This is part of a series of three composite bows made using ancient methods and completely natural materials which include wood, horn, tendons and animal glue; these are the traditional components. These bows are on exhibition at Chamber Gallery.
The Ibex Horn Bow was designed to be used on horseback. It is based off of the oldest bow I've studied, which was a 3,000 year old Scythian bow found in a grave at the eastern end of the Silk Road. The form is based on the shape of the horns of the ibex- a creature that the Scythians revered.
